Art Therapy For All Ages
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
My adolescence was drama-filled and moody, as most are. I found myself navigating moments of self-induced mania and isolation - of course, to my detriment, but always a cycle. It was exhausting and exhilarating. When I look back, I’m always struck by the severity of the swings I lived through. I’m grateful for the family that I was born into - my mother always attempting to support my mind, support my desires, and my visions of the future, and my father always carving an ego that could withstand any storm. And yet I still went through a personal hell of confusion and fear - grounded in my own trauma, but hey, I can never say my parents didn’t try to protect me from this world.
My family, although they couldn’t understand the root of my afflictions, brought me to professionals every time I asked for help. Of course, in my extreme decision-making, just as quickly as I would seek help, I’d abandon the search and do a handful of one-off sessions with about 4/5 different therapists. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t in a place where I could be appriopiately placed with a therapist and thus I met with older, white, heterosexual, cis women who had no experience in lived histories from queer or black individuals.
